Chain Valley Colliery, Vales Point, NSW

Bounty provided mining services at Chain Valley mine between May 2009 and April 2010.

Chain Valley is located in the Newcastle coalfield on the southern shore of Lake Macquarie, around 100 kilometres north of Sydney.  The mine, established in 1961, is immediately adjacent to Delta Electricity's Vales Point power station, one of Chain Valley's major customers.

The services provided by Bounty supplemented Chain Valley's operations by recovering coal from seams that are too thin to recover by conventional mining methods.

Aquila Colliery, German Creek, Central Queensland

The Aquila contract commenced in December 2005 in a 1.6 metre low seam mining environment. It was a 500,000 tonne per annum full service mining contract and Bounty achieved mining rates in excess of 800 metres per week of production and as high as 1,215 metres in one week. At Aquila, Bounty also achieved 943 days free of lost time injuries (LTI) during the operations, which were completed in April 2009.

Bounty successfully implemented a Continuous Haulage System increasing production by more than 20% in comparison with the use of traditional haulage cars.

Bundoora Colliery, German Creek, Central Queensland

Bounty has operated at the Bundoora colliery at various times since 2006.

The most recent Bundoora project included Bounty developing mains and gate roads for the 401 series longwall panels. The operations were on a 24 hour, 7 day roster and achieved average development rates in excess of 275 metres per week, utilising Capcoal's continuous miner and shuttle car equipment, until the time of the contract completion on 9April 2009. Although Bounty had operated at Bundoora for a shorter period we achieved an LTI free record of 364 days to contract completion in April 2009.

Ivanhoe Colliery, Lithgow, New South Wales

InCoal undertook a contract for Centennial Coal Limited in May 2005 mining in the Irondale seam at Ivanhoe Colliery. The Irondale seam averaged 1.8 metres in seam height. The contract finished early after 6 months because of poor coal quality.

The contract was an important opportunity for Bounty to show case its low profile equipment and systems of mining to the Australian coal mining industry. InCoal achieved superior levels of productivity on an annualised basis at Ivanhoe, by averaging in excess of 70 metres per shift, and mining up to 600,000 ROM tonnes per annum with shuttle cars, on a 4 day per week production roster.
